this is what we have in our room. It's over our laminate flooring. You could put it over laminate, wood, concrete, or any other hard surface. Not sure how it would be over carpet.

Not sure what you mean by second floor. In my house, I have a basement, a first floor and a second floor. I wanted the workout room to be in a second floor bedroom. The treadmill lasted there one week. Whenever we ran on it, the entire first floor shook and the chandelier swayed. It was also loud as hell.

We moved everything to the basement. Berber carpet over poured concrete down there. We just put a towel under the trainer and around the treadmill.

Nice selection here. We used them for our excercise room flooring. They sell residential to commercial quality.

We went with this product. Zero regrets. They can send you samples.

Good point here. Thanks

I use the large commercial carpet squares, I believe they are 18" square. Nice quaity with rubber backing. They are perfect over concrete which in my situation occasionally gets damp in spots so lifting them up and lettting them dry outside is a nice feature.
