Has anyone tried this?

Training with a slightly lower pad stack then raising the pads back up (+-5mm) to ones original fit so that you perceive a more comfortable position for race. Or does this fall in the nothing new on race day? Too many variables or even just plain dumb?

This seems quite odd. The right position is the right position... I don't really understand why you'd want to spend a whole bunch of time training in a less comfortable position so that somehow you could theoretically feel more comfortable on race day. I'd suggest this falls into the "too much time on your hands" category of idea.
