I get that it's a fixie, but would a typical tri or road bike generate the same type of speed gains? has anyone dared to try this at any time in their life?

Hello teamheadwind and All,

Not to be picky ..... but do you suppose he could at least point his toes for a bit more speed?

I seriously doubt it would be faster than pedaling the big gear at high cadence

I would argue that the drivetrain of a fixie IS a brake. Much like a coaster brake, it will stop a bike; at least as I read California law.
Might be different laws in other jurisdictions.

That was crazy!

...and I can't believe no one has made a joke about it being obvious she's not a triathlete because of her bike handling skills.

a pretty piss poor brake though, especially if your not even clipped in! I ride a lot of fixed in tt's etc, and theres no excure for not having a normal brake.
