Does anyone else on here subscribe to the Athletic? Has anyone heard of it? They are scooping up writers who have been let go and building an awesome website.

Yes you have to pay for it. Yes the content is definitely worth it.

I hadn't heard of it until today until I saw via Twitter that Ken Rosenthal joined as their lead baseball writer.

Similar subscription site with a local focus (Boston Sports Journal) just launched with writers who originally were based here, branched out to national outlets like ESPN.com and MMQB and then got let go as those sites trimmed staff.
