Any Oculus Rift Users in Here?

Just picked one up over the week end. Holy shit it's cool! Feels like you are really inside the video game. Although one of the more intense games got me quite dizzy. There is a free app called big screen and you can fire up netflix and it looks like you are right in a theater. Cool thing is others can join you if you wish.. They can see and hear what you are playing on the computer. Fricken weird but fun at the same time.

Got one a few weeks ago. My hardware doesn't quite meet the minimum specs (graphics card is only a GTX 770), but the games I wanted it for (mostly racing games) are running pretty well on it. I did want to hurl a time or two using it with the Mission: ISS tech demo. BTW, the inside (and outside) of the ISS is pretty much spot on. I'm quite familiar with many of the ISS elements from my day job, including having been in some of them when they were on the ground or in their mockups. Likewise I wanted to puke on Alien: Isolation; there's a hack to give it VR. Perhaps once I upgrade my video card I'll give it another try.

Hadn't heard about the theater app - will definitely take a look.

I think it's interesting but I think we're a long way off from VR going mainstream, at least for gaming. Maybe it's better when you're not moving but a good amount of people don't do well with VR when it's moving.

I think you are wrong. Playstation now has its own VR.. Microsoft is not that far behind for xbox. And there is Oculus and HTC Vive for PC... Not to mention all the cheap VR headsets for mobile phones.. Samsung makes their own and now Google has one for Pixel. There are also a bunch of cheap one that will work with any smart phone.

The porn industry is all in on VR and I'm sure they have a loyal fan base, but have you seen any AAA VR tittles that have been developed for the PS or Xbox? I don't get very caught up in the peripherals, remember how short lived the Kinnect was for Xbox One or how almost no one made a game that utilized the Playstation Eye? I could be wrong about VR but it seems like it has all the excitement of 3D TV and we all saw how that turned out.

VR is so different than 3d tv and kinnect.. not even a close comparison. Steam is now getting in on the action publishing new VR titles. Anywhom try it out. Go get a cheap $20 headset for your smart phone and load up a few VR apps. Its not as good as Oculus or the play station version but its still pretty impressive.

I think we are still a generation or two away. Maybe if the next XBox or PS go all in on the hardware the developers will fully support. But I don't think anyone has figured out the motion sickness problem and that needs to be addressed.

We have the original Oculus, Oculus Dev 2 and the HTC Vive here where I work. The Vive is SOOOOO much more fun. Although hooking the Oculus up with a Leap motion controller is a lot of fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ_53T2jBGg
