Tire Clearance on Cervelo S5
Just bought new rims for my 2014 cervelo S5. I have 23mm gators as tires. Anything wider tends to rub against my frame (rear cut out). Can anyone recommend who owns a cervelo s5 a 26 mm tire that has clearance? Thanks in advance for your suggestions! Need durable tires for Long Island NY roads

It sounds like you found the tire that gives you the maximum size. Continentals typically measure larger than what their label reads. However, it doesn't matter what's written on the side of the tire, you're not going to be able to get anything wider than what you have because wider also means it's going to get closer to the frame at that point where it almost touches.

Are you referring to the new frame design? If so, then I can help.

You can put on 25 or 26mm tires if you are on standard rims. If you are on wider rims, then it gets a little tricky. On something like Hed Ardennes+, you can fit a 25mm Conti on there, but clearance is VERY tight (about 1mm on DS). If you are a strong rider or if your wheel going out of true, you are done. Stick with 23mm on the wider rims.

23mm gators tend to measure about 25mm. Those are very durable tires as is, I would stick to those.

I've got a '13 S5 and have a pair of HED Jet 5 + wheels (these are the wider version of the HED Jet 5's). I run those with a 23mm Conti GP4kS2 tire. I haven't had any problems, but there's not much clearance - Clarence.

I could not fit those same tires on a Flo 90 rim. They were too tall and rubbed the underside of the frame.

also, in terms of a real answer: if you don't have much luck here, cervelo's also got a forum that's pretty good. and your question there might get answered by one the in-house staff, which is cool.

I have a Cervelo S5 since 2012.

Been running 23mm Continental GP4000S's on Mavic Cosmic SLE's (19mm wide rims).
There is a spot inside the rear wheel cutout where the paint has been rubbed off, as well as a similar spot on the bottom of the downtube near the front wheel. Probably minor little vibrations and frame flex did it over time.

I can post pictures if you really need to see, but I wouldn't do it if I were you.
