ITHACA, N.Y. – Rising sophomore Taylor Knibb, the reigning Under-20 world champion in the triathlon, had an historic performance last weekend, becoming the youngest woman ever to reach the podium stand at the World Triathlon Series, taking silver in just the third WTS showing of her career.

Knibb covered a hot and hilly sprint-distance course featuring a 750-meter swim, 21-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run in a time of 1:01:22, exactly one-minute behind the defending world champion, Flora Duffy of Bermuda, and 29 seconds ahead of 2016 United States Olympian, Katie Zaferes.

She also competes on the XC and track teams.

Ken - Maybe you've missed them but there have been at least 2 threads discussing Taylor's recent races. Here's one on the most recent Montreal race, and there is an earlier thread on the Edmonton race, which is the one discussed in the article you quote above.

She's from the DC area, been racing with her and her mom since I got into the sport... she is certainly coming into her own. Saw in a thread on here where she was supposedly only running XC and didn't think that was correct(she still races a couple of times a year locally... won a Sprint in May this year... sure enough she reeled off great performances at Montreal and Edmonton. She improves her running, she's going to be a real ITU player... maybe even a 2020 Olympic medalist.
