Men over 50 seem really slow at Philippines 70.3

1st place in M55-59 was 5:34. I rarely see the top guy go over 5:00, and most of the time it's way below that. M50-54 wasn't much faster at 5:26. M60-64 was 6:30.

Is this because it didn't draw a competitive field in the older age groups? If so, why? Or is the course long or particularly difficult? Just trying to get a sense of whether there is specific reason for these slower times. I have reason to travel on business to the Philippines and every year I toy with the idea of trying to coordinate my trip around this race.

two things I gathered from friends that raced this year:

1) current was very strong and roughly 200 didn't make the swim cutoff which was extended to 1:30
2) Hot and humid. Only 2 pros broke 4 hours. The rest died on the run course. I raced this course for the past 3 or 4 years and the run is flat.
