1. once i cut the head off - i cam assume i can fish the remaining bit out through the DI 2 battery hole right?

2. any idea how to replace this rivet? with thread

3. any other ways of getting the cover to stay in place?

I think that's open to the bb area, so that should work. You'll need a rivet gun, and you'll probably have to end up using a wattle bottle (larger) rivet. That's work that not many shops are willing to do nowadays, so I wish you luck finding one. You could use a rare earth magnet inside the frame through the battery cover hole and use one in the cover as well. That might work for you to hold it in place as well.

wow thats a seriously neat idea with the magnet... especially that other two bolts are fine.

wonder whether it will not confuse the powermeter tho
