This year, in September, will be the 2nd time it has been held.

The swim takes place at 1800m, bike has 5000m of climbing and the run finishes at 3000m.

Project DM - Xtreme Triathlon (Arizona). 155.3 miles (2.4/126.5/26.4) with 17,000ft. in ascent. Finish is at Humphrey's Peak at 12,633ft (highest point in AZ). A very small race that 100 percent of race entry fees go to local charities. As far as I know it is the first and hardest Xtreme triathlon in North America.

June 25th was our 3rd year and we had some great performances: a new course record of 15:14 (first daylight finisher) and our first female finisher (17:40). We raised $3000 for local charities.

Gold Nugget Triathlon up here in Anchorage (well, Eagle River), Alaska. It's ladies only, but it is HUGE up here for racers of all abilities. A group of gals from Nome travel there all the time, and the race sells out FAST (like minutes). I think its a sprint distance.

When you're at Mirror Lake and see the roads surrounding the lake, you think there needs to be a tri here. This series was there way before IM.

Sea to Summit in Maine/New Hampshire (1.5mi-ish ocean/river swim, 93mi-ish point to point bike to base of Mt. Washington, 6mi-ish "run" up Mt. Washington with the finish line at the top).

Small event (<100 participants), bring your own support on the course, point to point, finish on top of a mountain. Definitely not an IM catered event. Very fun and different. Just did it last month and experienced the race in what were likely the race's worst conditions in their brief history. Despite the bad weather which you can't control, I would do this race again any year I can make it work.

Race director, Jeff D., does a good job of balancing preparedness/keeping athletes informed/safe and keeping the grassroots feel of the event going.

2x Deca-Ironman World Cup (10 Ironmans in 10 days), 2x Quintuple Ironman World Cup (5 Ironmans in 5 days), Ultraman, Ultra Marathoner, and I once did an Ironman.

The Florida Xtreme Triathlon, a 3-day, coast-to-coast, 300+ mile, triathlon journey across Florida. It starts with a swim in the Gulf of Mexico and finishes with a run on Flagler Beach on Florida's East Coast.

This race has been in the planning stages for almost a decade, and I decided last fall to make it happen in 2017.

I am eyeballing this first-year event - Badcat Ultra

40-mi kayak
250-mi bike
100-mi run

What appeals to me is that unlike some (most?) of those double-, triple-, etc ironmans, this one is point-to-point. No short loop repeated endlessly.

New England Endurance Events is putting on the race now. Starts in Berwick Maine and finishes at the summit of Mt. Washington.
