Radio Gaga

I heard that song today for the first time in many many years. Man, Freddie could sing.

At home tonight I watched a live version of the song and he belts it out perfectly. There are so many singers that get polished up and actually sound like shit live. I think Freddie actually sounded better live. You could hear the passion in his voice.

Anyway, just feeling nostalgic about an amazing band.

How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?

Queen, f&$k yes!

Freddie is solid top five front men ever to exist. He commands it.

Great clip here, turned Live Aid into a Queen concert. Such an amazing frontman, they don't make them like this anymore.

Yup.

Another good live one is "Rock it" from The Game.

That guy could sing.

You were born too late and you're right about the second part.

That song got me into Queen's music. Bought every album on vinyl along with a bunch of picture disc 12" singles (and then sold the whole lot for stupidly low price when I left the UK), joined the fan club, the works (pun intended).

Like people who remember where they were when Kennedy died, I still clearly remember hearing that Freddie had died. One of my biggest regrets - music-wise - is never getting to see them play live.

Whenever MTV Live channel has a Queen concert on it's the end of any hope of doing anything productive for a few hours.

Aside from Bono, I can't think of a rock frontman that interacts with their audience on the same level that Freddie did.

I like how he gets the audience to sing the difficult parts.

If you close your eyes, it's hard to tell the difference between Kanye and Freddie.

If you have an iPhone, tell Siri "I see a little silhouette of a man..."

She does an amazing version.

The most amazing thing about Queen for me is one word. Restraint. With Freddie's voice and showmanship and Brian May's tectonic guitar play they could have sucked hard. I have seen bands with so much talent they blow out because they can't control it. Guitar gets too noodly and the singer is too busy doing vocal aerobatics for any real music to be made. Instead they took time for innovation. Had a gift for storytelling and the read for the drama in rock. 4 beautiful guys got together with one vision. (Yeah I did the last part on purpose.)
