Damn. That is not good. I flew down to Edmonton for the day and it was smoky there. I was watching the news last night and apparently some areas of BC were forecast to have some rain, and that can't happen soon enough. You and your crew stay safe down there. This has been a tough couple of weeks.

There is a fire west of Banff, so the smoke you are seeing in Calgary may also be from that fire in addition to the others.

From what I understand the fire is practically on top of Sunshine Village, they've closed the summer hiking trails.
We got some rain (and a lot more lightning) over night. The rain should have helped that fire, but the lightning probably caused more. The only update is that the fire is "being held", meaning with the on scene resources and projected weather and fire behaviour, they don't expect it to grow.
