Haven't listened to the podcast, but we do have some crazy microclimates here. In Victoria alone, certain parts of the city get significantly more rainfall then others, to the point that, until recently, different municipalities of the city required different building practices for houses.

Hope, BC, gets a ton of rain every year. A couple hours drive down the road and you are in a desert, one of the driest climates in Canada. An hour north of that and you are in a climate that is similar to Tuscany. We live in a very unique place.

I highly doubt we will see the temperature differential noted in the podcast (2.5*C in 30 years?) but, apparently, there are lakes here (Elk lake, home to National rowing team) that used to routinely freeze over every winter. I have never seen a hint of ice on them during my lifetime.

Long Chile was a silly place.
