.Rolled into town right after the power went out power went out.Grocery shopping with flashlights and quarters.
40 dollars a night hotel
Walked down to Agate beach..billions of beautiful rocks.
Sunny. Thunderstorm building way out to the west at the horizon
There was maybe 30 people there over 3 miles of visible shoreline.
No boats on the water.
Water temp.. 42 degrees on the surface , 30 something a foot below.
Got my nerve up and threw on my jammer and worked my way into the water. it was calm , no wind.
In ten minutes, 3 foot rollers started coming in out of nowhere. They increased in size and numbers.... still no wind.Lake Superior is freaky. You have to respect it.I got out.You could see the rip currents accelerate.
We biked , we hiked.
Drank beers and ate fresh whitefish tacos.
it is laid back.

I ‘ve heard. Population in Grand Marais , Michigan is like 200 off season. Not much much of a town.

So you're like 3 hours from Lake of the clouds?

Small world. My dad lives up there. I will be visiting him in two weeks. The town is pretty busy during the summer months. Tough living during the winter.
The warmest I have ever seen the water in the bay is in the low 60's. It has been a pretty cool summer so far.
