I've been gifted above old MTB ... am planning to make it rideable as a commuter bike.
(I'm not a gearhead.)
The existing seatpost with Giant saddle (is very heavy, and) has a rig underneath that looks like two sets of interlocking gears AND is incompatible with all the saddles with rails I have available to switch in.
And when I went to switch out the post itself, the profile FF post and the post from an old Trek aluminum road bike were too wide to fit into the seat tube.
I (mistakenly, apparently) though that seat posts were pretty much interchangeable ... anyone have insight/advice/hacks for me? thanks.
