The Democrats should focus on their own platform and how to sell it to the public. Then they should find a good candidate who can start taking over from the Pelosi crowd and start forging some recognition.

Trump will be very vulnerable in 2020 and they should win easily with a good candidate but they have to start figuring out what they believe in. The party is as fragmented as the Republicans and they have to get on the same page.

With Trump, the next election is the Democrats to win or lose.

Plenty of republicans view him as incompetent too.

Incompetent in the vein of the 25th amendment does not mean you don't like his policy or how he does things or his abhorrent tweets.

Moderate Democrats know perfectly well what they believe, and liberal Democrats also have a very clear agenda. They just differ. They are nearly as fragmented as the GOP (not quite, but close). There is no same page in policy, but they need to find a candidate who can mollify both wings (Obama was able to do that).

Actually the 25th does not lay out any criteria. Apparently (wiki-fu) Reagan's own Chief of Staff thought of getting people together to decide whether to invoke Article 4 because Reagan appeared inattentive, lazy, and inept. (maybe the onset of Alzeimers?)

Obsessively tweeting the hosts of a morning show when your Congress and Senate Majority Leader desperately need your help fulfilling the core GOP campaign promise probably starts to fit into Baker's criteria, at least.

Invoking the 25th would, by definition, be political since Congress ultimately decides. It's not like a Drs. diagnosis.

As long as the shark keeps swimming, we need to keep jumping.

I'd be ok with this so long as it was permanent and staffed only by the minority party in Congress. It will be decades before we have another POTUS. I guess that's one way to check executive privilege.

Why would the dems want to do this? They only serve to profit in 2018 and 2020 from the chaos coming from the white house.

Now saying that they want to do this serves to tell their base that they're resisting by any means.
