Job Interview
Interviewed for a job on 6/2/17. Met with about 7 people and I thought all the interviews went really well. I had lunch with the hiring manager the day prior to the interview and also met with him last on interview day. I got good feedback from him and left feeling like I had a very good chance at landing it. I sent thank you follow up e-mails to everyone I met with and received replies (all favorable) from about half of them. I had a contact within the department that I would be working in that tipped me to the posting as soon as it hit. He fast tracked my resume so I was in the door interviewing within 3 days of the posting so I am sure that I was extremely early in the interview process.

A week passed with no contact (by them or me). I waited until the next Thursday (so 9 business days) and sent a follow up e-mail to the HR Director that I interviewed with. She thanked me for my follow up and said she hoped to get back to me within a few days. I waited a couple of days and then sent a text to my inside contact to see if he knew anything. He said he would check it out and let me know. I have not heard anything back from him as of today. So it has now been about 2.5 weeks...

I REALLY want this job as I feel it is a perfect fit for my skill set and experience, but I have another opportunity I am stalling on because I would prefer this one. 2.5 weeks seems long to me...should I assume I didn't get it or is 2.5 weeks not really that long? I am currently stably employed so it's not do or die either way...

I'd chill since they have to interview other folks just to cover their bases

I hope your email is not your LR user name. Keep in mind we are smack dab in the middle of Memorial Day to July 4th. Things tend to die down a bit.

On the contrary, he's applying for a position as the star of a porn franchise. The email handle is necessary to show his swagger.

Long wait but I wouldn't start worrying about it yet. Depending on the size of the company and the size of the admin it can take awhile. I did hiring for a County Clerk office, took a few weeks from when we started taking apps to interviews to making a decision, to getting the decision to HR, etc. Could take us a month depending on schedules.

I agree. If you were not in serious contention, I'm sure they would have already sent you the fancy form letter, "Thank you, but......"

You could accept the other job in the meantime. You don't want to end up with no job at all if this other one falls through.

Oh I can only that the OPs screen name is their email and it is on their resume. Would be as dumb as the questions they are asking.
