I did it. Fantastic race. A little bit challenging logistically, but overall, the shuttle buses work well, but you just end up spending more time on the bus than you might like leading into the race. But a great venue. Awesome support. And Campeche itself is awesome. I am looking forward to racing it again in '18.

I flew into Campeche directly via Mexico City. I got a cheap hotel that was very nice walking distance (1km) from the race finish and race expo, which is also where the shuttle pick up is in the morning.

There are also AirBNB options if you are into that, both close to race finish and also out by the race start.

Cheaper option is to fly into Merida and to drive down the coast (about 4hrs), which is supposed to be spectacular.

If you fly into Campeche and stay in the heart of downtown, you'll never need a car, and if you do, taxis are absurdly cheap.

Talked a bit about the race here: https://rappstar.com/2017/03/22/venga/

The beaches in town are not great. It's a fishing town, so it's basically road, bike path, wall, ocean. No beach there. But out by the beach club - where you swim - is really nice.

You can also see where you swim on there, because it's where the bike starts. And if you zoom in with satellite view, you can see where the sandy beaches are.

As far as I could gather, the nice sandy beaches are all man made; there are no natural sandy beaches in Campeche (AFAIK).
