Zipp Vuka Alumina BTA mount
I just had my 3rd failure in as many years with this product from Zipp. The first time the extension going to the computer mount broke off...yes the metal piece.... and the next 2 times was the computer mount itself .... the insert...broke and my Garmin went bouncing down the road. Two out of three of these failures happened during races (one TT and one 70.3).

I'm a Retul bike fitter and have recommended this product to many customers because outwardly it is sleek and aesthetically pleasing. It is however unreliable. Maybe this product could work for the casual racer, those that don't attack a workout or those who don't ride a lot of miles but eventually the vibrations of the road seem to break this product down.

I called Zipp and they were unwilling to help this customer. If it were me I'd offer to replace the insert for the computer mount that broke, a part likely to cost under $1. Bad choice Zipp!

They wouldn't do that with me or at least if they choose to do it it will have to be through the bike shop. Seems like they are making something that should be crazy easy difficult.

Yeah I took it to my local shop and Zipp sent me a new one. Zipp processes warranty and repair work through Zipp dealers. You can't just call them and mail it to them.

Looking at pictures on the internet, it seems like there are now 2 screws to attach the garmin mount to the rest of the assembly.
Was yours already like this?
(that product seems like a great solution, but hearing about these failures is still keeping me away. Would be great if it's fixed..)

DonÂ’t be worried about it. ItÂ’s most likely the first generation. The 2nd gen has the screws that fix the issue.

Strange, IÂ’ve had one for several years with no problems at all.

Apparently, YMMV.
