Wow is about all I can say! Just got here yesterday and did the boardwalk beach stroll last night. Some country music festival is in town also. Why the hell is this place such a tourist attraction?

I am convinced it was built by Charlestonians to keep the riffraff out of the Holy City.

If you can get your hands on a mountain bike they have a super fast and fun trail at Horry County Bike and Run Park.

Okay. So you'll be prepared for visiting Gatlingburg in the Fall. :-)

There was a strip club, I couldn't remember the name so I typed in Myrtle Beach full nude. Voila, Derriere's. Now that place was cool. You could bring your own beer, women were generous to the touch. Cool place when you are a young college kid, young professional not yet married, or married dude who is just hanging in there.

So Trump is coming up with a budget brand based on his experience in small to mid town american and their budget offerings. I kid you not (http://www.cnbc.com/...dea-hotel-chain.html). American Idea is the brand. First locations probably do well in Myrtle Beach, Branson Missouri, Daytona Beach and Gatlingburg.

Why the hell is this place such a tourist attraction?I have family that retired there from the Tri-State Area. It is a fun place to visit, but everyone being so nice, stopping at stop signs, and waiting their turn starts to wear on you after a while. Plus they put pineapple and ham on pizza. WTF is that all about? Broadway at the Beach has its charm, but it gets old after a while, except for the Tilted Kilt and the hot sauce shop.

About 40 years ago my best friend's parents took us to MB for spring break. They dropped us 2 HS juniors off at a campground (with no car) while they stayed at a fancy hotel in town. Lets just say we had no problem getting rides to the bars from college kids staying in the campground.
We had a most excellent bottle rocket war with the guys in the next tent site. It was touch and go for a while because we were outnumbered, but we kicked their asses once we developed barrage technology. We propped the cooler lid up at the appropriate angle, then we'd lay a dozen rockets across it, and touch them all off at once. Good times!
I'm sure the place has changed a bit since then.

We were looking for dinner options and all the seafood hot spots had 1-1:30 wait time. We settled on a small joint Salt Water cafe in Murrells Inlet, fried shrimp, she crab soup were awesome beer was cold. 0 wait time.

I can't believe anyone would ever go there for vacation either. I went with in-laws for a short stay and I was shocked how busy and overcrowded it was/is. I see no reason for the love affair with the place.

Why the hell is this place such a tourist attraction?I lived in South Carolina...and was luckily 3.5 hours from Myrtle Beach. It attracts a special type of crowd and the main Boardwalk area is really dicey and low rent. North Myrtle Beach has nicer places....but if you are in the main part of MB...lock your doors and don't leave anything in your car. If you have a bike.....stay off the road!!
It is a great place for golf. I would ask around, you can go South or North a few miles and get away from white trash. Some decent local spots. Kids do seem to enjoy it...just make sure you are with them at night, and I wouldn't stay our really late.
We mistakenly booked a hotel right in the middle of all of it. Pulled up, cops immediately swarmed the apartment complex across the street, guns out, megaphone, etc. We walked into the hotel, took one look and cancelled our reservations and headed north until I found alternate arrangements.

The kids had a blast so all in all a good short trip. Won't be back anytime soon though.

Nope...we lived in the upstate. Hilton Head is great! Used to go there frequently.
I worked construction at one point. The bosses would do an annual trip to Myrtle Beach offseason for the cheap golf. They would pack 6-8 dudes in a camper and pick up hookers on the way down at truck stops and the final destination. My boss once told me a story how they ran a train on one hooker and she didn't make him use a condom. Few things shock me, but that did.
Now that I'm looking back at the few posts I've done here, I realize I know some very sleazy people. Pornographers, open mongers, swingers, dudes that like their wives getting digged out in front of them, people who film it and post it online.
