I'm super proud of you! You've worked so hard.
I'm assuming now finished in Oregon? Where's the next stop?

Thank you!
Assistant teaching professor at Oklahoma State University - mathematics dept!
I hope you are well :-)

Outstanding Dr. TC, glad you are able to right into a tenure-track position. I would imagine there are not many math PH.D.s awarded each year across the country, and very, very few awarded to women. You are joining a very, very select club. When will you actually receive the degree???

For the sake of clarification, my position isn't a tenure track but does have promotion capabilities. It is, however, a faculty, professor position (with promotion capabilities), not a post doc. (There's nothing wrong with post docs - they are awesome - I'm just trying to clarify here).

They'll mail the diploma in the middle of June. I'm not doing graduation as I want to get back to Maine.

Thank you for the kind words.

Ah, I see. I guess the academic world has sub-divided into teaching profs and research profs??? In any case, sounds like an excellent job.

lol. No, I didn't do mine on any of my many dysfunctional tendencies. I (along with another grad student) developed and field tested an evaluation protocol for assessing inter-agency systems that address child abuse.
Currently, I'm the director of a program that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I also have a small therapy practice

Mazel tov, Dr. Tigerchick, and welcome to the club.
I hope your position in Oklahoma works out well (or, alternatively, that you move on quickly).
I was in a teaching, non-tenure-track position for years. They have their odd little set of advantages, even if salary and job security are not among them.

Huge Congrats! Being a professor at a major university is an impressive accomplishment. A PhD is not fun, but it makes the challenges that follow a lot easier.

Chemistry, sheesh! I hated chem. (People probably tell you this a lot, like they tell me they are not good at math). In maths when I do something wrong I just get a new piece of paper. In chem there was a lot of cleaning equipment to start the experiment over - more work to start over, I guess.
