11sp Cassette and 10spd hub
Is there any issue with me running my 11spd cassette minus a cog on my 10spd hub? When I had bought the wheels the hub was supposed to be 10/11spd compatible, evidently that isn't that case.

Can I get a deeper threaded lock ring? Adjust my 11spd RD to function on a 10spd cassette?

needing opinions/advice/concernce or Chinese proverbs. TIA

Its a Shimano Ultgera grupo and both cassettes are Ultegra as well.

Leave the smallest cog out? Not sure but probably not as the locking ring would not fit properly. Edit: can't leave any other cogs out because then the cassette would not stack properly.

How do you know this? Which hub/wheelset is it?

Can't do that. Cogs are closer together on an 11 sp cassette. The pull ratio, how much cable the shifter pulls (and how far the derailleur moves) with each shift, is different.

Removing a cog from 11 sp cassette and installing on a 10 sp hub works fine, just requires tuning the derailleur cable tension. I regularly do this on my older Wheelsets. Works best by taking out the 15 or 16t cog (depending on cassette range).

Yes, but the deraileur stops need to be adjusted as well.
Also need to consider which cog you can realistically take out.
Most of the cogs on the larger end are now in structured combo and to take a cog out of the middle is to compromise the most used part of the cassette in the gear selection you have.
Best to loose the last cog and swap in a new lockcog or if you are lucky, some cassettes come with both of the last cogs already with detents for use as the lockcog.

The wheels are Karbon Speed with a Novatec hub on them. I double checked resources on the specific hub from Novatec and everything came back saying it was 10/11spd. I bought the wheels 2 1/2 years ago with the intent of my new bike being an 11spd. Got the new bike and now this hiccup!

Did you miss the spacer that goes on so you can run 10speed on an 11speed hub? Could easily overlook it.

You can't fit a Shimano 11 speed cassette on a Shimano hub, but you CAN fit a Campagnolo 11 speed cassette on a Campy 10 speed hub. Rather than getting rid of the wheels you have and buy new 11 speed wheels, replace the free hub body to Campy and use a Campy 11 cassette with. It shifts more than acceptable (the spacing is almost identical between Shimano and Campy 11)

Anyone been able to contact Lasco Concept re. getting 11spd cassettes modified to run on 10spd hubs? They don't seem to answer emails and the phone # leads to dead air.

There are mentioned in the darkspeedworks blog in the link.

Later edit. I may have spoke too soon. On the 3rd try I was able to leave a voicemail. We'll see what happens.

Lasco got in touch with me and I'm buying 2x 11spd cassettes. 2 local bike shops that I went to said the 11spd conversion couldn't be done. Thanks guys, this thread really squared me away. Buying a new rear disk and also a training wheel would have been bad.

+1 Running this now. Switched from Campy 10s to Sram e-tap 11s. Just swapped Campy cassettes 11 for 10.
