Salsa is salsa, not dip. Hummus is a spread, not dip. In general, a dip should be thick enough to stick to your chosen cracker or chip without spilling. Generally, a dip has cheese, mayo, sour cream, some other dairy, or beans.

If you were coming over for a Super Bowl party and I asked you to bring chips and salsa, you wouldn't bring bean dip. If I asked you to bring crackers and dip, and you brought salsa or hummus, you'd be wrong.

Obviously if you want the superior spinash it's Spanish

Perhaps I misspoke (misstyped). I should have said something to the effect of "legitimate meal" instead of "food". Obviously, it's food...but I'd consider it at best a dessert-type snack, not an OK choice for lunch.

As to where? Any place that values food more for all the other factors before convenience - which is winning bigly here. Now get off my lawn!

Salsa is not a dip.
Salsa may be an ingredient in a dip.

Dip containing salsa: Take a block of cream cheese and partially melt in microwave. Pour small jar of your favorite salsa over the top and give it a stir.

I do a similar thing with cream cheese. With the exception of nuking it, I let it get room temp, poor fav HOT HOT HOT salsa on it, then eat with wheat thins instead of chips.

Not willing to read the whole thread so, if this is a repeat recipe, oh well.

Philly cream cheese layered underneath Hormel turkey chili (with beans) covered in cheddar cheese. Warm up in oven then go to town on it with big frito scoops.

So much good.
