How can I manipulate a Garmin file?
I failed to hit the stop button on my 510 when I finished the bike leg of Choo 70.3. It ran until I turned it off, when I finished the race.

Is it possible for me to omit the portion - after I entered T2? Would this (what occurred) even affect the power numbers? I'm assuming (though I'm no whiz on how this works) 2+ hours of zeros wouldn't compute, but I'm not sure of it.

I know my speed (IM calculated that), distance (I got 56.7 mi), etc. I'm mainly just interested in my power.

Thanks.

GoldenCheetah can edit it. Or load it into Strava and it can also edit and trim off the end.

Specifically, "Selection Remover" is what you're looking for. Great site

I am assuming you aren't familiar with XML but if you are you can after importing the .fit file export the gpx file and just edit out the portions with zero power.

Nope. Not familiar.

I'm actually hoping someone will tell me how to find the .fit file.

I'm not kidding.

If you use TrainingPeaks, you should be able to select the section you want and delete it.

If you plug the device in via USB, the .fit file should be in the /Garmin/Activities directory with a YYYY-MM-DD-HH-MM-SS.fit file name. If it's wireless or Bluetooth, I think you'll have to sync it to Garmin Connect first and then export it.
