Ended up going with Mavic Ksyrium Elite found them brand new for $600 Canadian or 445 US.

Great choice. Bombproof, fairly light, good bearings. A nice used pair of Ksyrium SLEs or SLRs (with the Exalith brake track) would have been even better - and still within your budget.

+1 on the Flo's. I train (and used to race) on flight 30's with a wheel builder cover of the rear. Put some good rubber on them and you're set to crush it on a budget.
