Have you seen the clips of Conway when she was a paid shill for the Cruz campaign? It's the last time you'll hear her describe Trump and his behavior accurately.

I get why media outlets would want to speak with Spicer and Huckabee, given their positions. Of course they're paid to spin, but at least you know you're getting the message POTUS is putting out at that particular point in time. Conway, OTOH, has no informational or newsworthy value whatsoever. She's useful to the outlets who interview her solely for the potential for controversy, and for no other purpose. Which is to say, she is the story they're covering when she makes an appearance.

People like her need to be put on media blackout. In her current form, she's not newsworthy.

Yeah. And she promptly accused him of sexism.

Conway: Trump Victims Include “Victims Of Trump University, Victims Of Trump In Atlantic City.” Conway praised anti-Trump messaging, saying it’s that “gotten better” because people are “starting to talk about victims of Trump University, victims of Trump in Atlantic City.” Conway also continued highlighting Trump’s hypocrisy in claiming that he is “for the little guy,” when really he has built his business “on the backs of the little guy.” From the March 8 edition of CNN’s At This Hour:

Conway: “I Would Like To See” Trump’s Tax Returns “Be Transparent.” Conway criticized Trump’s failure to release his tax returns, saying, “I would like to see those be transparent.” She also castigated Trump’s “unpresidential” rhetoric, referencing the time when he “insulted [his opponents] as ‘lying Ted’ and John Kasich ‘who eats like this slob.’” From the April 25 edition of CNN Tonight with Don Lemon:

Conway Condemned Trump For “Hurl[ing] Personal Insults” And Using “Vulgar” Language That Was “Unfortunate For Children.” Conway reprimanded Trump for using “the p-word” at a rally, language she characterized as “unfortunate for children,” and claimed that voters “will think thrice now when they go into the ballot box.” From the February 9 edition of CNN Newsroom with Carol Costello:

Conway: Trump “Can Whine And Complain” By Saying “The System Is Rigged,” But “There’s No Place In Politics For Accusing Folks Of Using Gestapo Tactics.” Conway mocked Trump’s complaints after he lost the Colorado primary that “the system is rigged, the system is corrupt,” sayng, “You can whine and complain all you want,” but “you didn’t know the rules.” She also attacked the Trump campaign’s claim that Colorado winner Sen. Ted Cruz used “Gestapo tactics,” saying “there’s no place in politics” for those comments. Conway also denounced Trump ally Roger Stone for attempting to intimidate delegates, saying Trump should tell him “to cut the crap.” From the April 13 edition of CNN Tonight with Don Lemon:

Conway Accused The Trump Campaign Of Becoming Too “Cozy With The Establishment”: “Goodness, You’ve Hired Paul Manafort.” Conway charged the Trump campaign with “becoming a little cozy with the establishment” by hiring Paul Manafort as chairman. From the April 4 edition of CNN’s At This Hour:

Conway: Trump's “False” Accusations About The Cruz Campaign Show “The Danger Of Just Saying Things That Aren't True." Conway rebuked Trump for lobbing “personal insults at somebody’s wife” as well as for his accusations that Cruz was “committing a felony and breaking a law,” adding that such a comment reveals “the danger of just saying things that aren’t true.” From the April 6 edition of CNN’s Erin Burnett Outfront:

Conway: Unlike Trump, “Pro-Life Candidates” “Don’t Need Four Or Five Times To Get It Right.” Conway disavowed Trump’s suggestion that there should be some form of punishment for women who have abortions, arguing that he had “upended” decades of work by pro-lifers, and she implied that real pro-life candidates “would have gotten [the question] right the first time.” She also criticized Trump’s “free earned media coverage” and said, “If you live by the media questions, sometimes you have to die by the media questions.” From the March 30 edition of CNN Tonight with Don Lemon:

They have the worst jobs in America right now. Basically, the job right now is about showing loyalty to the President and justifying his latest BS. Clearly within the administration they're not entirely sure what to do with Conway - she was the leading spokesperson for a while till the 'alternative facts' thing (have to say, I thought that was genius) blew up in her face. When she was on Cruz' campaign she was clearly outspoken about Trump; I think she is probably much smarter than we are giving her credit for, but she is extremely loyal to her bosses and therefore tries to justify whatever shit is thrown at her. I think her biggest problem is she's had terrible bosses though - with creepy Cruz and then Trump. Had she put her energy into being a spokesperson for something good (NGO, Charity, ...) she probably could have been much more respected.

Might deserve it's own thread, but the choice of a new director seems like a pretty big deal. I hope MaCabe is not that choice, as he has a serious conflict of interest, with a wife who, just after the Hillary investigation was announced, was tagged to run as a dem and received close to 3/4 of a million dollars from the dem party, most of it from Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe's PAC. MaCabe also checked the legality (not required by OGE), and decided not to mention this glaring conflict on his financial disclosure forms. Just looks like the same dirty DC pol behavior in action, and I'd rather not have a guy I thought that of going in.

I hadn't heard that about McCabe, though I didn't presume he'd take the reins for any lengthy time anyway. He's reportedly very good at what he does, so he should probably continue in that role.

It will be interesting to see who he nominates, and if the Democrats can find a way to support the nomination. Obviously someone like Gowdy or Giuliani would be a deal breaker for them, and possibly even some Republicans (Giuliani in particular, who appears a caricature of his former self lately).

That was a long 12 years. I'm truly saddened by Comey's departure. It's a significant loss. Hopefully his successor is more like him than Mueller.

And look who was appointed special counsel by DoJ...

Comey sure seemed to highly esteem Mueller. On the Comey front, people should take a closer look at his years as leader before lionizing the man. Several instances where he failed to follow lines he probably should have during his short tenure, and his leadership of the Clinton email investigation was nothing short of incompetent.

I'm fine with that. He was by all accounts a fine prosecutor in his day.

He just sucked at being an FBI Director.
