Need some new music
Dear LR,

Please direct me to some new artists to check out. Some of my favorites are TOOL, older Metallica, Seether, mudvayne, Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, Bullet for My Valentine...

So what out there should I be checking out? Itunes rock top tracks make me think we are stuck in the '90s.

Thank you,

MTBSully

Not new, but Prong. The newest album, X - No Absolutes, is wonderful and will make you want to break shit.

Liking the Khemmis, not huge on thrash metal. I like some rhythm and melodies.

Sabaton
Historical military themes + metal = pure awesomeness

Look up "Primo Victoria" & "40:1" on youtube. My phone isn't letting me cut/paste links for some reason.

Cheers!

Here are some bands (new and old) and some of the albums to start with: High on Fire (Blessed Black Wings and Death is this Communion), Electric Wizard (any album), Witchcraft (Nucleus), Graveyard (Lights Out), YOB (The Unreal Never Lived), The Sword (Warp Riders), they already said Khemmis, Greenleaf (Rise Above the Meadow), Elephant Tree, Elder (Lore), Dopelord (Children of the Haze), Behemoth (The Satanist), Duel (Witchbanger), Melvins (Stoner Witch), Witch (Witch). Also check out Bask, Stoned Jesus, All them Witches, Wo Fat, Red Fang and Bongripper.

You are living in the golden age of metal/bluesy hard rock. Much better stuff out there than Metallica/Tool/FFDP/etc...

I dig Sabaton, reminds me of Nightwish and a "slower" type Dragon Force

I've had luck linking an era I am interested in with an XM channel. I listened to Lithium for about 2 years straight and got caught up on 90's alternative and grunge. A whole era of music I actually missed due to career and parenting. I'm not fixated on Ozzie's Boneyard which features 80's metal and enjoying it a lot. .
