Not exactly a major news source, but a good article about how this was a failure for Nike but a success for Kipchoge.

confirming my previous statements on the tesla and timing clock not providing any real advantage. And, the analysis in the above link assumed a constant distance to the pacers, but if you look at my images here: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/...ost=6301414#p6301414, the distance to the pacers definitely wasn't constantly close. I had also started this thread over at LRC: http://www.letsrun.com/...d.php?thread=8200477

I'll say this, that video of the attempt has become a staple of mine for trainer sessions - talk about focus and grit on Kipchoge's part. Kind of hard to slack off when watching him just keep ticking along!

Further to this point, I ran a marathon this morning with a course that was sort of out and back (San Diego Rocknroll). Anyhow, there was a big ass flat bed truck in front of the leading men when I saw them on the way back. The track had a display and a few rows of seats with people cheering on. It was as much of an airfoil as that Tesla on the track. It was probably there from the start and it was maybe 10-12 yards in front of the lead pack.

I bet it happens in every major marathon.

Next races on the schedule: none at the moment

So the leading men were breathing in exhaust for miles and miles?

That was one of the worst reasoned and poorly written articles I have read. Not to mention the very fact that - oh, Kipchoge ran the fastest he has ever run in his life using Nike's technology, which by the way the author fails to point out - and moreover the entire article is about Nike, undermines the author's entire thesis.
