IIAF proposal to reset track & field world records still standing from before 2005

Interesting idea - there are a bunch of records obviously left over from the "everyone's on steroids era" - for which most people means the Soviets, but there's a more than a fair share of Americans suspiciously still having world records from the early 90's.

Paula Radcliffe doesn't seem too pleased with this either.

For reference there are no fewer than 1 Men & 11 Women's world records still leftover from the 1980s. (Filter the tables by year)

Not wanting to promote another duplicate thread, but I think most people would view Flo Jo as the archetypal cheater from a bygone era that's still defiling the record books, rather than the somewhat niche records that the ex-Soviets are still hanging on to.

Wow, so if this happens Mike Powell's 1991 Long Jump World Record gets wiped? And Jonathan Edwards' 1995 Triple Jump? To me, seeing those records 'wiped' feels wrong.
