For Macintosh gurus

situation: I'm getting to keep my old Mac from work at home. It's a dual 500Mhz G4. It's running 10.3.9. When new, it was running OS9. during that time, the DVD-RAM drive quit working. It was replaced with just a CD-ROM burrner. Then OS X was installed. Because of the CD-ROM burner, the DVD playback app wasn't installed. Now the Mac has a DVD burner and I can burn DVDs with it,, but I can't play them back - no application. I have the 10.3.9 system discs. Is there any way to get the DVD player app installed?

I'm a new mac user, so I have a question also. I can't seem to post pictures, and I have a few things to sell on ebay. How can I post picture.

Also, if I go to amazon and try and listen to a preview of a CD, I can't. I tried to download the windows player for mac, but my mac says there is not an application to open it.

It's a brand new mac too.

Any help?

Thanks

This board only works with Windows Internet Explorer for posting pictures.

Why don't you post the question on the apple.com discussion board. I am sure some geek will have an answer for you. the OS10 board . Do a search their also.

Or some poor slob who's bored at work after a day of conspicuous overeating could do the work for you:

I've never tried to sell anything on eBay, but this looks fairly useful:

Your eBay problem may be browser-specific. Sometimes Firefox works better than Safari. Sometimes Camino works OK. Sometimes you're forced to use crappy old IE. Keep hacking away at it. Only in extremely rare circumstances am I forced to admit defeat and fire up the PC.

Good luck.

You should be able to use your install discs but it may be sipmpler to do a search on versiontracker for DVD player software. You can also download DVD player from the site

Thanks. I think it's going to be an OS reinstall. All that's available is DVD Player 4.6 which is for 10.4. Maybe I should bite the bullet and get the latest OS - lot's of nice features added since 10.3
