Ironically I saw one of these in the wild last night at a local sprint triathlon we had here last night in Clermont, Noticed it on the 5k as he was going the other direction. The leg gripper looked a little expanded to me. Not sure how many times he used it but he was a bigger guy to begin wth.

I work in the Government and Military department for an anti-counterfeit solutions provider. I've seen a lot of behind the scenes related to Middle Eastern and Chinese counterfeiting operations. People who buy carbon bikes or bike parts from no-name or counterfeit Chinese manufacturers are freaking crazy. The main motivator of the counterfeiter is "profit". The counterfeiter will make that profit by using the cheapest materials, has no customer service and entirely eliminates Quality Control. With regards to clothing, it's common to find hazardous materials used in the finishing treatments, such as formaldehyde and toxic dyes. What's worse is many of these Chinese and Middle-Eastern companies employ forced labor, including child labor.

A lot of these knock-off manufacturers on Amazon are people working out of residential homes re-selling the Chinese and Middle-Eastern knock-offs. Look up the companies yourself and find an address, and then look it up on Google Earth. You'll be surprised how many businesses are headquartered in a residential cul de sac.

Granted, big brands and legitimate small companies occasionally sell defective products, and some have been busted for unethical practices, but in the grand scheme I'm okay paying more to know my risk of getting a defective product or supporting unethical manufacturing has been greatly limited.

Remember, in most cases you get what you pay for.

Before clicking on this topic I knew it was going to be a link to Amazon, and seller from China. This is very common, and no, Amazon doesn't care. Their store is replete with knockoff products. Here's an explanation of what's been going on:

So what is Trump going to do about it. Ultimately sellers on Amazon still have to manage their reputation. Junk products if they get real junk reviews (not fake junk reviews) will eventually torpedo the product. What is the solution. Should we all buy some Amazon puts?
