No it would be for both road and trainer.

Yes, you should be able to feel the difference (if that feel actually translates to speed is an entirely different matter). The bike will typically have a "flatter" feel due to the vibration damping and be much stiffer at the BB (due to the construction). It will generally feel more comfortable.

I think Kenney summed it up in one hit. Lots more factors to consider, and will depend heavily on which specific bikes. There are a lot of great materials out there which bikes are being built out of these days, and days gone by, titanium, steel, carbon, aluminium to name the big players, and some pretty good bikes can be found in all of these.

I'm sure there are steel bikes out there, that are better rides than some carbon bikes.
