I chortled.

My work blocks social media, streaming services (youtube, netflix, pandora, etc), pic dump sights, and they limit third-party e-mail (I.e. I can read/send but cannot attach anything or download any attachments, it also pops up with the same "blocked" website page everytime you go to it but it instead will allow you to agree conditions and continue).

ST isn't blocked since it is categorized as sports and they don't block any sports websites. A year ago they tried to block sport sites but that didn't last long.

Maybe if someone spelled "amateur" correctly you could see it...

At my current job, all file sharing sites (eg dropbox) are blocked. A lot of advertisements get blocked too.

I can see Reddit, YouTube (surprising), and personal email sites. Oddly, lumberjocks.com won't let me log in as it thinks I have a spam IP.

At my last job (defense contractor), the firewall was much more restrictive. Every so often it would block slowtwitch; just randomly. "Noooooo!!!"

They don't block much here that wouldn't be obvious from the content. They block any auction site, so ebay and similar but it also catches auctionzip.com which is just a listing of live auctions.

There are times I wish it blocked more because something will inadvertently pop up that could get you in trouble. My last day here is Friday, maybe I'll see just how little it blocks.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Ours used to be very restrictive with social media but a couple of years ago that was relaxed and now most work. Things classified as porn or "offensive language" get blocked. Also seemingly random things - like the schedule for my pool and a restaurant's website that I just tried to get to are flagged as "malicious web reputation"
