Looking to be spending a fair bit of time in Long Beach and am wondering about best open water swim spots. Any favorites?

Thanks in advance!

I believe there is some open water swimming in the Naples area of LB, its more of an inlet, no surf. That could be your thing or not. We have a group that meets in Redondo every Sat morning 8am, a great coached swim. Let me know if you want details

search for SMOG on Facebook. Every Sat morn, 8am, in Redondo at Ave A lifeguard tower. Bryan, the guy who runs it also does coached 1-on1s and a twice weekly pool workout Mondays and Wed evenings I highly recommended. Ocean group is free.

Quite a few triathletes swim here. Set your gear near the wall by the bathroom and swim along the buoy line to the dock and back. I've never not had fellow triathletes either be in the water already or show up and it's nice that the other water sport people are accustomed to keeping an eye out for swimmers.
