Advice On Wetsuit Repair ...
Hi,

Hoping someone can offer some guidance to the best way to repair this damage on my suit.

It seems to have happened quite quickly and I can't really come up with reason why ... ? :-(

I was thinking of bonding one of those seam strengthing circles on both the inside and the outside of the two damaged areas, what do you think ?

So you can picture where the damage is :

Anyhow, first time open water this year so it would be wrong not to post a photo of the water just before we went in :

Any help and advice really appreciated ! :-)

In the past, I've used Blown Out Wetsuits in Santa Cruz, CA.
small operation, but quality work. I had to ship it to them and then they shipped it back. the process took about two weeks.

Here are my suggestions:
  1. Repair the seams first, with wetsuit glue. But do not use the patches that come with, as they may not be flexible enough for that area.
  2. Then use Tear-Aid, type A (plastic patches that stick very well, are flexible and waterproof.) to cover the areas that have rubbed away. This will prevent further damage. http://www.tear-aid.co.uk/
  3. Just make sure to clean the area with rubbing alcohol to remove any greasy stuff.

As for why this happens, could be just the way you swim. Because the area has a red coating on it, it's more noticeable, but over the years, I've seen similar wear patterns on black suits, too.
Let me know how else I can help!
Best,
Karen

McNett is the company that Roka advises using for their wetsuit repair sealant. Ive used it and it works great. Check out some Youtube videos on how to use it for repair

McNett = Black Witch which is good as that's the stuff that's redily available in the U.K. :-)

Stage one done :

Might do a second coat yet to build the hole up a bit more level. Will see what it's like when it's cured fully.

The black witch stuff sure goes tacky very quickly ... !

Hello STConcierge... hoping you could also provide me some advice on repairing my suit... see below. I'm assuming that I can fill the small holes by the seam and in the front with wetsuit glue (BlackWitch or similar), but can you suggest how I would repair the part by the neck? Obviously I also want to ensure that it doesn't produce a finish that destroys my neck during the swim... any advice much appreciated!
