Can we now start in with the lawyers and donut jokes?

Can we still have our board meetings at Panera?

Pink? Maybe. Maybe not. You decide.

Krispy Kreme did not buy Panera. The company that owns Krispy Kreme bought Panera.

But yes, this definitely warrants some lawyer board meeting jokes.

This is fantastic news and perfect timing. I like donuts much more than bagels and I am going back to being a lawyer full time in less than two weeks.

Does anyone know if Krispy Kreme has community rooms or will we have to meet in the parking lot?

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

More importantly, does this mean that instead of the wholesome breads they serve their sandwiches on, that I'll be able to get my chipotle chicken with avocado pressed between two glazed, creme-filled donuts?

I'm just hoping they'll add Peet's coffee.

Yup, Peet's part of the same larger holding company. I'm a huge Peet's fan, would be a big upgrade over KK coffee but then again anything would be since theirs tastes like it was brewed in an ashtray.

Man, they own a ton of coffee focused or coffee heavy companies now.
  • Panera
  • Caribou
  • Peet's
  • Intelligentsia
  • Stumptown
  • Keurig Green Mountain

Panera & Caribou being in pretty similar quality leagues. Peet's being in a Starbucks class, maybe a bit better than regular Starbucks, not as good as Starbucks Reserve line. Intelligentsia & Stumptown being at the high end of the coffee spectrum with a focus on the craft coffee & hipster crowd. Keurig being what Keurig is for the casual home consumer. That really hits all ends of the market. That's an impressive array.

Will they still use organically raised horses to make the glue that goes in their clam chowder?

I've never had Panera or KK.

So, the cops are in cahoots with the lawyers now? We're screwed.

I haven't eaten at Panera either, but eating a piping hot Krispy Kreme donut right off the fry line late at night is something to experience.

Yes, it is almost pure sugar with deep fried dough. But son of a bitch if they don't just melt in your mouth. Hot, have to be hot right off the line.

Unfortunately, my last office was in a small town. Any time lunch was catered, it was Panera. Almost the only thing in town :(

Haha. KK made an attempt at the Canadian market years back and one opened up about 30 mins from my home.
I picked up a dozen fresh donuts to take home and share, unfortunately I ate half the box by the time I got home.
Thankfully KK did not succeed in Canada so I won't have that happen again.
