Oh man......
Initially ERG mode would not work properly on TR, power was reading a good 40-50 watts lower than on my Quarq, spindown wouldn't work properly (flywheel would spin for several minutes), could not maintain cadence over 85 rpm no matter what. Outdoors and on my previous trainer I ride at 95 consistently. I've been on a Tacx Vortex for over a year and am very familiar with how a smart trainer should function. I updated the optical sensor firmware to a beta version the Tech told me about. That fixed the ERG issue, but not the spindown. I would try a spindown and either the unit was set to an insanely difficult resistance level or zero resistance. Nothing in between. I tried the advanced spindown on several occasions and after the 9th or 10th time it finally worked. Now the trainer functions as it should and I'm loving it. A friend of mine just bought a Gen2 Kickr and hasn't had issues, but I've read enough complaints online to realize my situation was not isolated.
