The Swim Smooth DVD Boxset - Is it worth it?

My weakest point is my swimming by far.

I've been looking around for video/material to clean the bad habits I picked along the years. So I came across this http://www.swimsmooth.com website and it looks pretty good.
The video package for intermediate is $59, not a whole lot but I'm having a hard time justifying that money with so many other videos out there.

Has anybody tried it? What do you guys think?

Any other website suggestions are welcome as well.

Cheers!

The best thing would be to get a video analysis, find out what the flaws are with your stroke and work on those flaws. If you do a video session, you will probably be provided with a series of drills that are aimed to fix each individual problem. You can then use youtube and other video stuff such as the Swimsmooth package to help.

If you want to just check it out, you can sign up for the guru basic ($3), which you get pro access for the first month. Pro has all the videos in the dvd and more.

Awesome, I'll try that and go from there.

+1

I've been using the Guru system since November and I've dropped 11s per 100M and I haven't even begun any speed work in the pool. With a focus on consistency and technique work so far, I'm happy as can be. One thing to keep in mind is there are some equipment purchases you'll need to get the maximum out of the system. I will say that it is very very low startup cost vs cycling or running.

  1. Pull Buoy
  2. Fins
  3. Paddles
  4. Finis Tempo Trainer Pro
  5. Swimmer Snorkel
  6. Ankle Band

Good luck!
