Right. Which sounds like good healthy fun.

It is; until it's not.

Then it becomes "an adventure."

I bought a card game called Unexploded Cow as a gag stocking stuffer for my husband on an Amazon Black Friday deal. (I cannot donate blood due to my potential exposure to mad cow disease.)

It's actually really fun to play. Our whole family really enjoys the strategy. My 7 year old begs to play it.

It's really fast moving and interactive after you figure out the somewhat complicated rules.

Our kids (7 and 10) like:

Tenzi - quick playing dice game
Uno - classic
Googly Eyes - Not my favorite, but the kids think it's hysterical.
iota - a fun little card game.
Monopoly - usually a multi-nighter.

Heard good things about 'exploding kittens' but we don't own it yet.

Russian r....wait never mind!

My daughter is only three so its generally Disney Princess Memory or Paw Patrol.

Before kids our friends would generally have a game night, this got us into playing games with our nephews: We started to get them into Settlers of Caatan, he really enjoys it. Issue is we only get to play once a year so we need to relearn the rules each time.

Other games off the top of my head are
Huckleybuck: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huckleybuck
Axis and Allies
Ticket to Ride
Farkle

Simple but pretty fun game is Dragon Wood (Dice and Cards), more complex but also fun is Munchkin (Cards only).
Sequence, Labyrinth and Yatzee also get played fairly regularly at our place as well.

I grew up on board and card games. I think they played a pretty big role in developing my maths ability. My dad and I played chess over breakfast from about fifth grade through my sophomore year in high school.

Cards: Spades, hearts, cribbage, rummy, spoons (SUPER kid friendly), Bullshit (which I learned as "bowl of sugar" or "bull sugar"), Spite and Malice (that one my grandmother used to play with us)

Board:
Chess
Clue
Scrabble
Backgammon (that's a game for two though)
Monopoly
Sorry
Parcheesi
Masterpiece (esp. if someone in the family is into art)
Settlers of Catan
Battleship
Stratego

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine

No. Only in going outside. You're a monster.

Also Duffy doesn't watch tv. But he watches computer which is somehow ok. Tv bad. Computer not bad.

How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?

We are a big fan of Spot It. Just got to target and look at all the unique card games in the section. Most of them are pretty good. We also really like the game Anomia and classics such as taboo, uno and apples to apples. These are all simple to follow/play games that everyone can enjoy

Well you have to admit, the porn is way better on the internets than it was on TV!

Agree on Spot It, we play Uno a lot in addition to that. My wife was able to find the older classic versions of Life and PayDay online.
