Geocaching Devices
I'm looking at getting a GPS device to use with my kids for geocaching. We regularly hike, camp, and mountain bike, so I was thinking this could be something fun to add. Do any of you do this? I'm wondering if a device like the below is much better than just using a smart phone with an app. Aside from geocaching, is there anything else people use these for? The boys are 8 and 10 years old, so we aren't doing any off trail back country hiking.

we used a few different GPS units when we geocached with the kids - any will do - especially any that one can download the lat/long from the website(s) We also through in the use of maps even if just for general idea where to look . . ie what road, what side of road, which trail, etc.

My kids use an app named Geocache. It's a lot of fun and you can find it for most phones.
