Unfortunately, most of them have circumstances and/or lifestyles that pretty much ensure an early departure.

A lot of them have died in just the past couple of years. Just off the top of my head...

Nicole
Crackhead Bob
Joey Boots
Riley Martin
Eric The Actor

I doubt High Pitch Eric or Jeff The Drunk make it much longer.

I was never a Stern fan, for whatever reason

I'm sure this is some sort of flaw on my part

I listened for years from about the late 80's until late 00's. I liked the joking between the people on the show, which is why I thought it really went downhill when Jackie Martling left and was replaced by Artie Lange. The best part though was his interviews, because he asked about stuff that never gets asked in the fluff interviews celebrities typically do. I could take or leave the more racy stuff, sometimes it was funny but usually not. And it was apparent that he really is a pretty decent person.

Yeah, I remember the "original cast" when he was just getting syndicated: Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling, Stuttering John, Baba Booey, et al

They were funny, but I never achieved total fanboy allegiance; I didn't NOT like Stern, just would rather listen to music on my morning commute than talk/comedy

Yeah. Best interviewer out there.
He truly goes deep with the person being interviewed.

I stopped listening regularly a few years ago, in part where he shortened his days per week doing new shows and also seemed like he took more and more vacation time. I do agree the show's high point was back when he had Jackie and Stuttering John (will also add Billy West, who was also a riot when he was on locally here at the old WBCN). Agree that he is an excellent interviewer.
