Lady tries to steal clothes from donation box...dies...

...horrifically.

Quote:
Judith Permar drove to a clothing drop-off box at about 2 a.m. Sunday, her black Hummer shrouded in the darkness of the Natalie, Pennsylvania, night.

Hummer...

Quote:
After allegedly removing several bags filled with clothes and shoes, she slipped as the stepladder collapsed, her arm catching in the door.

Oops.

Quote:
The fall broke her arms and wrists, which were trapped in the box. Her feet, meanwhile, didn't quite touch the ground, leaving her hanging.

Oh man, that sucks...

Quote:
There she dangled until 8:30 the next morning, when she was finally found. Bags were scattered around her, and the Hummer's engine was still running.
The temperature had dropped to 21 degrees that night, according to Weather Underground.
Permar was pronounced dead at the scene. The county coroner James F. Kelley listed the cause of death as blunt force trauma and hypothermia.

Sad story.

The human personality always fascinates me. A relative of mine directed a couple of small but well-connected non-profits, distributing aid to the most needy people in their community, including donated goods for poor young, single mothers. It was always curious to me when other relatives of mine suddenly had new clothing for their kids, bags of diapers, baby formula, new car seats, etc....all "donated" from one of the non-profits. Or when this relative suddenly had the money to go to the casino for a weekend. This person wasn't wealthy but wasn't in dire straights by any means either, just a thief. And yet they did a ton of great work that actually helped people as well, a complete split personality.

Imagine hanging by both arms which are broken, your feet mere inches from the ground, freezing to death.

She really had time to consider her actions.

That's something I don't want to imagine. We've all done some pretty terrible stuff. It would be awful to die a slow, helpless death and have only those terrible things to think about; a completely different sort of horrendous fate to be in the midst of one of those terrible things while dying a slow, helpless, painful death and have that be one's final legacy.

I'd rather my death be in the midst of selfishness & stupidity but appear heroic...like jumping in the road to grab a dropped $20 and getting plowed by a truck at the same time a little kid is stepping into the same road, making it appear that I was in fact trying to save the kid. It would be all too fitting.

Freezing to death must suck big time, you go insane for a little bit.

What do you think were this last guy's thoughts?

"In the world I see you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Towers. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying stripes of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway." T Durden

I do not care to speculate what his last thoughts were.

I couldn't look at the picture, then I couldn't look away. Is that how the warped death-obsessed mind starts? Dear god, please say no.

hahahahaaha. I think the real story is he was exhausted and decided to sit down, which led to I'll lay here for five minutes and get up and go. He fell asleep and didn't wake up . Either snow or clothing are what were bracing his arm and body when flexible, now both are frozen stiff and whatever was holding them is gone.
