We should always strive for the higher road, but that doesn't seem to be happening now does it? Obama himself seldom played the high road.

Sorry, that came out bad. Been busy and left stuff out of my reply.

Meant to convey that I'm with you in a desire for clear concise language, but rhetorical gamesmanship has been a plague at least since time of Socrates. Yes, clear and concise language is opposite of political correctness -- and also Trump-speak. But at this moment in the ring, Trump-speak is effective counter to PC, at least on some of the judges' scorecards.

Peace

on this we agree; again, my point is that those judges are mistaken.

i think i disagree. at least in the orwellian sense, the opposite of political correctness ought to be clear, concise language. but trump relies heavily on vagaries and dissembling.

Oh, for clear concise language without rhetoric. Would you like some hemlock tea to go along with that?

Trump's genius was finding one style of sophistry that was effective against another. Unless he delivers on his promises, his supporters will tire of him and his manner.

And so far he seems to be delivering on them to the greatest extent he can. Eventually he will have to work with others to move beyond what can be legally done with EO. Then the real fun starts.

you come across as an absolute prick, even though i'm sure you're not.

Maybe you shouldn't be so sure of that. lol.

It was a serious question, though. I get that in an ideal, or even a mediocre world, the president of the United States would comport himself with some dignity. But we all know who and what Donald Trump is, and he isn't dignified. Given the importance of actual issues facing the nation at this time, is it really vitally important to us every time he acts like an ass?

I mean, I understand being offended or embarrassed or irritated or whatever when he says stupid things. I get it, really. It's unfortunate. But vitally important? I don't really see it.

the onus is on the president to communicate more clearly.

I say again: It's Donald Trump. I don't think he has the capability. Even if he does, he does not have the decency. I just think that if he's not talking about something that's related to policy, there's little sense in trying to read some deep meaning into whatever he babbles about, and then getting outraged at what he might have intended to say.

Waaa! Trump respects Putin!

I don't care, really. I mean, I care, just like I care that he's tweeting inanities about his reality show or whatever. But it's not important, grand scheme of things. There are things that he says that probably do mean something and they're probably important. This is not one of those things.

The media is in danger of falling into boy who cried wolf syndrome. Nit picking at all of his stupidity rather than focusing on the important stuff.

Welcome. You've figured it out. Can you help the unhinged masses with this simple explanation?

And oh, is it stupidity if it's effectively manipulating most of the media? I seriously don't know that answer.
