Didn't somebody say the Iran Nuclear Deal was a success recently?

"In the world I see you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Towers. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying stripes of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway." T Durden

From your link:
The landmark nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, however, does not include provisions preventing Iran from conducting ballistic missile tests, and Iran claims the tests are legitimate because they are not designed to carry a nuclear warhead.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

I'll ask you again. Do you think that the Iran Nuclear Deal was a success? If they can continue tests (because they don't contain a warhead), and violate subsequent UN rules, was it really a success?

Well, you can't ask again if you did not ask in the first place.

It cannot be judged a success or now now. If in 10 years they aren't close to having a nuclear weapon it was.

But it did not address ballistic missile tests, so using that as evidence that it is a failure is gibberish. An NHL referee not calling a penalty for high sticking does not mean the roughing the passer penalties are a failure.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

I do.

The U.S had sanctions in place in one form or another since 1979 and in that time, Iran developed their nuclear program. So, the sanctions weren't working and Iran was developing nuclear weapons. The nuclear deal allows for a return to sanctions if Iran continues to develop the program (to return to sanctions requires a vote by the UN security council).

So, without the deal, Iran was going to get a nuclear weapon and would have continued. Now, there is a chance they don't continue and if they do, you can still go back to where you were before the deal.

So, what is there to lose by trying?

Since they haven't been trustworthy on anything, and since certain high risk areas are barred from inspection, how do we know?
