True! But, "Duncan Pelletier," the name on the sample slowguy posted, sounds like a super WASPy guy who goes to Duke and trips people.

Yeah, you can blame that on Crane. That's where I got the photo.

Slowguy

That note you sent me with the MMDGA hat was on some seriously high society stationery. Really classy shit, man.

I'm getting choke up just writing about it now.

I framed it and it hangs above the toilet. I think of you every time I'm getting a blumpkin.

You should see my personal stationery. I would blow your fucking mind.

I do have personal electronic letterhead (via Microsoft Word) that I use for personal letters, but it does not have the nice touch of personal stationary.

Stationery, dammit! :-)

Pretty sure sg started this thread knowing that someone would misspell it and get me all wound up.

Thanks. I've looked at Crane. They're kind of expensive, but maybe that's just the cost of doing business. I was thinking of something along these lines.

Very nice, stylish and classy! I didn't think anybody but me used a paper and pen anymore. Be careful slowguy; you'll end up charming all those ladies you try to avoid with your genteel mannerisms ;-)

I was going to make an American psycho reference. But held back.

"In the world I see you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Towers. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying stripes of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway." T Durden

Funny, I just received an order of personalized stationary from AmericanStationary.com. Mrs. North threw me a surprise 50th bash and I had some old friends fly in from all over and most hooked me up with some really high end gifts. I wanted to show some love back to everyone who came, hence the high end note cards. The website was really clean, tons of options and I was super impressed with the quality. Not cheap, but worth it.

I has some made several years ago. Handwritten letters (mostly thank you notes) are really a classic and classy thing to do. I should use it more often.

I used a local printer. Keep it local. Support the community.

Handwritten notes, for whatever occasion, are a lost art. And very appreciated by those who receive them.

Clearly people still think it's a special thing, or you would not find tons of articles like these:

https://www.google.com/...er+handwritten+notes

http://athlonsports.com/...ard-college-football

http://www.espn.com/...nyder-legacy-letters

These articles demonstrate the impact that a single dude writing notes can have.

Communication in general has become less and less personal as technology has improved. I remember writing actual letters in college to high school friends that went to other schools. At some point that phased to email, which, though more frequent really isn't the same. Conversation and phone calls have (d)evolved to texting.

Despite, and maybe because, texts and email are the norm, personal notes can still have a tremendous impact. Kansas States football coach Bill Snyder is wel known, amongst fans and alumni anyway, as a letter writer. Snyder is old and old school and really just a fascinating guy. Good article here talking about his note writing habits and the big takeaway from it to me is how impactful those notes were on a bunch of college age kids.
