I first read Watership Down when I was 12 or 13, and I've read it probably a dozen times since. That book and the beautiful film adaptation left quite a mark on my life, and I am forever grateful to Mr. Adams.

My first "real" novels that I read as a kid were Watership Down and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I'm not sure which I read first.

I had various small critter pets growing up named after characters in the book.

I loved this book as a kid. When my kids were 2-3 years old I came across Watership Down on DVD and thought, they'd like it. Holy shit I had forgotten how violent it was! Thankfully my kids weren't too interested at the time.
