1. Make up some bad stuff you think Trump 'might' do.
2. Give an impassioned speech to potentially impacted individuals saying you're ready to fight.

4. Get re-elected/profit.

Effective and used across the isle, but YAWN.

Trump is the crazy. The reason he would want to shut down NASA satellites is to restrict or hinder scientific research on climate change so he can then claim there is no research to prove it. He's actually muzzling scientists, something that is very scary in a supposed democracy.

Trump wouldn't literally turn off the satellites, but the ones on orbit don't last forever. The expectation is that he would drastically cut or even eliminate funding. NASA's Earth Science budget saw a large increase under to Obama administration. Trump could reverse that and maybe go beyond. Some of the key science projects require a continuous collection of data, so not having the next satellite ready to launch when the current one starts to fail is a big issue.

The other issue is access to the data. There have been cases in the past where data that was once available to the public was put behind firewalls. they wouldn't destroy the data, just make it much more difficult to access.

Everything you said is completely true and I suspect Trump actually does believe in climate change somewhat, especially if its affecting his golf course. :-)

Maybe he just wants to roll back the part of the the NASA budget that Obama put in there for them to reach out to the Muslim community and make them feel rosy.
