Fat Bike tires.....rolling resistance....on snow
Quote | Reply
Now here is a topic that is not discussed very often. I have seen the tests which have been done for rolling resistance on fat bike tires. They are carried out on a treadmill-like device using a 'truck workbox' steel as the surface (if the picture is correct). My question is if this has any relation to what rolling resistance would be (or would even matter in any way shape or form) to rolling resistance on snow with very low pressure.

'Ill never ride inside on a trainer again' Fatbikes rock!

I believe my local reality has been violated.

As long as you aren't sinking into the snow, don't worry about it ;-)

Finally! An application where disc brakes are measurably beneficial. (slicing through snow)

For snow, go tubeless and get the largest tire your bike will hold and then run super low pressure. Rolling resistance and weight will be a non-factor unless you are planning on doing Iditarod or something.
