The first Santa that my son was ever pictured with is black (and a friend of mine from high school, coincidentally). This was probably 6 or 7 years ago. I don't recall any hoopla about it.

I even posted the pic on my instagram with the title…

"Fear of a Black Santa"

...in a play on words relating to the Public Enemy album, "Fear of a Black Planet."

Here in Santa Barbara we all mix together and nobody really cares about race except to make fun of each other.

If you go to Macy's and queue...and queue...when you get to the front there are a number of passageways leading off to different Santa's grottos - basically they have at least 3 working in parallel to keep it moving. One is black and you can state a preference.
