The last years it has been obligatory with high visibility reflective vest from t1 to the end of the first climb. This is because the race goes through one long dark tunnel at the first climb. This is a requirement from the police. The vest has also been used at Imingfjell one year when the fog was extreme.

Also, front and rear lights are required on the bike for the duration of the race. It can be tricky to mount a front light on airfoil aerobar shapes, so don't wait until the last minute to buy a light.
Make sure you tape your lights on top of the normal attachment. This year I lost the rear one and managed to catch the front one flying off the bike whilst in areo position. One of my best ever catch, unfortunately no picture ;). The surface on the last downhill is rubbish and a lot of equipment was laying on the side (or middle) of the road.

Thanks for all the clear answers!

Just one thing i'm wondering is; if it's that cold (most of the times), why is the use of gloves (non-webed) during the swim not allowed?

Here you have a drone video of the finish (Gaustatoppen). If you go to 1.10 in the video you will see the valley you run through to get to zombie hill. You will also understand why zombie hill is called zombie hill.

This video made by some hikers will give you a better understanding of the last 3 miles.

Anyone out there with a recommendation of a travel agent with expertise in Norway?

We are experienced domestic travelers who generally handle our own bookings. In this case, we have a party of six and are extending our trip to include three weeks throughout Norway. We would like to consolidate the logistics with a knowledgeable and resourceful agent, if such a thing exists in this day and age of DIY travel arrangements. Please let me know if you have a recommendation.

Thanks!
